Flying Cloud Farm
Flying Cloud Farm in Fairview is a local farm that grows vegetables, berries and flowers using sustainable methods without the use of chemical fertilizers, herbicides, or insecticides. If you have been to Hickory Nut Gap farm, you passed them on the way. They offer a CSA - Community Supported Agriculture - program in which the customer commits to the farmer and the farmer commits to the customer. The way it works is the CSA member commits to receiving a weekly box of fresh farm goods grown, harvested, washed and delivered by the farmers. For 20 weeks, from mid-May until the end of September, they will provide you with a box of freshly harvested produce from the farm. The contents will vary as the seasons change and different vegetables, berries and herbs ripen. They send out an email with the contents of the boxes, descriptions of any unusual produce, and recipes and cooking instructions.
There are different box options available and you can add flowers too. If this is something you are interested in, please go to flyingcloudfarm.net and look at the different options. I would love to coordinate sharing shares and pickup schedules. The farm is about 1/2 hour drive from Creston. Please let me know if you interested - there is no deadline but I would like to order by March 8. I would love to share a full box with someone.
This is a great way to eat healthy and support a local business. Farm to table in our own Creston community!
